Dear Parents:
On behalf of the Waltham Track Club, I would like to make you aware of the Safesport Program. The US Center for Safesports is an independent non-profit organization. Their mission “is to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of our nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.” As a USATF-member club and USATF coach, we/I have completed a 3-step certification process to be Safesport compliant.
Safesport’s vision is that every athlete will be safe, supported, and strengthened through sport. They are a federally authorized resource that was created to protect athletes from abuse of any kind and foster respectful environments in sports. Therefore, it is important that our athletes and our families are aware of these topics and the availability of Safesport resources.
The US Center for Safesport has establish various age-appropriate videos that we encourage you to review with your athlete.
If you have any questions, you can direct them to me, a coach for Waltham Track Club and the Chair of Youth Sports at USATF-NE. If you want to report a concern, go to the Report a Concern page of the US Center for Safesport, where you can report your concern online or call their hotline.
Thanks and see you on the track.
